Great trip. Tricky group chat.
The arguments, slow replies and mismatched travel styles that can stop a holiday before anyone packs a bag.
Most group trips fail before the destination.
The real test is agreeing on the budget, dates and place while five different travel personalities are typing at once.
The guide explores the pressure points that turn a promising plan into an abandoned group chat, then matches different groups with destinations where their priorities can coexist.
The plans that never leave the chat
Budget is the biggest flashpoint, but indecision is what keeps a trip from reaching the booking screen.
Money causes the first disagreement
Share of travellers who said each issue had caused conflict while planning a group holiday.
Meet the booking delayers
The person most likely to slow the booking is not always the least interested. Often, they are waiting for the perfect option.
The “maybe” friend
Enthusiastic in principle, unavailable when the payment link arrives.
The budget checker
Needs the final cost, the backup cost and the cost after everyone drops out.
The silent reader
Sees every message, reacts to none, replies three days later.
The approval seeker
Ready to book, once every other person has agreed first.

Explore group staysMethodology
The findings use a demonstration dataset modelled on plausible responses from 2,000 adults who had planned a group holiday in the previous three years. The figures are designed to show how the research would be structured and should not be cited as completed fieldwork.
Destination match scores combine indicative accommodation value, transport access, walkability, restaurant variety, nightlife, climate and activity choice. Each measure is normalised and weighted to reflect the priorities of the selected group type.
